Summer Camps
At KitchenAble, summer camp isn’t just about cooking — it’s about building life skills, confidence, curiosity, and a willingness to try new things.
We are honored every year that families trust us to share our love of food with their children. Our goal is simple: to teach real skills and recipes they can use for the rest of their lives — while having a delicious and delightful time.
Camps are held in our private teaching kitchen at: 967 Briarcliff Road
👩🍳 Our Teaching Philosophy
Every camp includes a mix of demonstration and hands-on participation. Campers work together in a group learning environment where:
- Patience and teamwork are practiced
- Everyone gets a turn
- Real kitchen skills are taught
- Confidence is built
For safety reasons, some tasks may be demonstrated by adult instructors rather than assigned directly to campers.
We also have a simple but important policy: Campers are expected to taste at least one bite of every dish we prepare (unless a previously disclosed allergy prevents this).
Every single summer, at least one camper discovers a food they didn’t know they liked. Parents love this — and so do we.
🕘 Camp Schedule & Timing
- Camp begins promptly at 10:00 AM
- Doors open at 9:45 AM
- Instruction concludes at 1:00 PM
- Pick-up must occur by 1:15 PM to avoid additional childcare charges
Preparing for camp (and cleaning up afterward) requires significant behind-the-scenes work. We kindly ask families not to arrive before 9:45 AM.
Campers help with kitchen clean-up at the end of each day until their parent or caregiver arrives. Responsibility is part of the learning experience.
🚗 Arrival & Pick-Up
Please park in the circle drive upon arrival.
Do not block the driveway to the left of the home, as it serves our B&B guest cottage.
An adult or designated caregiver must personally pick up each child. Campers will not be permitted to leave alone.
If someone other than a parent will be picking up your child, written notice is required in advance.
🧼 Kitchen Safety & Expectations
We take kitchen safety seriously and review guidelines on the first day of camp. We appreciate your help reinforcing these expectations:
- Frequent handwashing and sanitizing are required
- Please eat breakfast before arriving
- Bring a refillable water bottle
- Long hair must be pulled back
- Nails should be short and clean (no chipped polish)
- Remove jewelry from elbows down (watches, bracelets, rings)
- Wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes
- Wear comfortable, washable clothing (aprons are provided)
Kindness and a positive attitude are expected at all times. If attending with a sibling — you must be especially kind to them while at camp.
📵 Personal Items
Please do not bring electronics or distractions into the kitchen. We stay busy and active throughout camp and devices are not needed.
If a camper needs to bring personal items, they may leave a bag in the foyer during class. Photos are welcome as long as they do not disrupt instruction.
🥜 Allergy Awareness
We have campers with severe nut and seed allergies.
Please do not send outside food or snacks containing these ingredients.
We prepare plenty of food each day — no additional snacks are necessary.
💛 A Note to Parents
Summer cooking camp is joyful, energetic, sometimes messy — and always rewarding.
Each year we see campers grow more confident, more adventurous with food, and more independent in the kitchen. We look forward to welcoming your child into our teaching kitchen and sharing an unforgettable week together.
