Meet Chef Jessica: Food Enthusiast, Kitchen Enabler, and Culinary Educator

Chef Jessica Bright McMullen is a passionate culinary professional with a gift for making cooking approachable, fun, and flavorful. A trained chef, educator, mom, author, and media personality, Jessica has spent decades inspiring home cooks to explore new tastes and feel confident in the kitchen.

Originally from a small farm in southeastern North Carolina, Jessica developed a deep appreciation for fresh ingredients and seasonal cooking. When her family opened a fish market, she gained firsthand experience preparing seafood—skills that would shape her future career.

Jessica’s recipes have been featured in national campaigns and bestselling cookbooks. She developed healthy alternatives for Julie Hadden’s Fat Chance, and co-authored The Shannon Miller Healthy and Balanced Pregnancy Cookbookalongside the Olympic gymnast. She has also served as a consultant for several other culinary publications.

A certified Master Food and Nutrition Educator through the University of Florida, Jessica’s resume includes roles as personal chef, executive chef for a luxury kitchen and appliance company, caterer, event planner, and national spokesperson for major brands including General Electric and Unilever. Her culinary journey includes working for renowned companies such as Walt Disney World, The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Marriott, and Darden Restaurants.

Jessica is no stranger to the spotlight—she has been a featured celebrity chef at the Southern Women’s Show and regularly appears in TV cooking segments and print media. Her work has been showcased by WCTV, WTXL, Tallahassee Magazine, The Florida Times-Union, Coastal Angler Magazine, and many others.

In 2014, Jessica opened KitchenAble Cooking School in Tallahassee, where she continues to teach hands-on cooking classes, host private events, and share her love of good food. Each summer, she also leads popular cooking camps for kids, fostering confidence and creativity in the next generation of chefs.

Jessica’s impact extends beyond the kitchen. She’s been deeply involved in community initiatives, working with organizations like Second Harvest and Family Support Services of North Florida. Her efforts earned her Florida’s “Point of Light” Award and the President’s “Call to Service” Award for promoting adoption awareness and launching programs for foster youth.

In 2017, Jessica and her husband Chris—an expert on the grill—purchased a historic Midtown Tallahassee home, transforming it into the charming Briarcliffe Cottage, a cozy bed and breakfast. They now share that space with family, friends, and visitors from near and far. Book this magical property on Airbnb here: BOOK BRIARCLIFFE COTTAGE
